2015: A Year of Change

Hello! It’s been some time since I updated my News page…
This is due to the capricious nature of 2015! Here’s what I’ve been up to:

“Whose Shadow? ” Joins the Inimitable Greg Osby’s Inner Circle Music Record Label!

A fortuitous meeting with master musician Greg Osby in New York in January, resulted in an offer for my sophomore album “Whose Shadow?” to join his label, Inner Circle Music! I’m thrilled and honoured to be 1 of 7 vocalists, and 1 of 2 Canadians on this wonderful, international label!

With #1 songs on CBC and Radio Canada jazz charts, and top 20 songs on international jazz web radio charts, “Whose Shadow?” has been enjoying some international success! It was just featured in JAZZIZ Magazine’s spring 2015 issue, with a song in their CD sampler. Please visit my Press page for new international reviews.

“The One and the Other” Song Cycle

A great big thank you to the Toronto Arts Council for The Music Creation Grant I was awarded in December 2014. Scheduled for completion August 15, 2015, [two year old] dreams, images and sensory memory are being fused into the epic, episodic, dreamscape poetic song cycle “The One and the Other”. From contemporary jazz to recited poetry with program music, it is my most ambitious creation project to date. Stay tuned!

Performances, Performances!

Thank you Lula Lounge for a wonderful evening performing with Ted Quinlan and Jim Vivian in the TD Toronto Jazz Festival June 23! Present was one of the most focused and attentive concert-seeking audiences I’ve encountered in my career! Speaking of quiet dinner rooms, I’m very much looking forward to my debut at Bloom Restaurant October 29, with Ted Quinlan and George Koller. Bloom offers excellent Nuovo Latino cuisine and a wonderful intimate concert environment. For reservations and details, please visit bloomrestaurant.com.
