Wonderful News!

I am thrilled to announce that my second CD,

“Whose Shadow?” is now available for sale!

For a limited time − just in time for the holidays − it can be purchased through my website directly. Please email lara@larasolnicki.com for details!

The “Whose Shadow?” CD release concert will take place Sunday March 30, 2014 at Toronto’s elegant Jazz Bistro, and will feature myself vocals,Mark Kieswetter, piano, George Koller, bass and John Johnson, saxophones, bass clarinet and flute.

Three song samples of “Whose Shadow?” are now uploaded on my website!

Produced by George Koller (Holly Cole, Laila Biali, The Shuffle Demons), this original and artful project has been at the forefront of my thoughts and energies for the past two years!

It’s a highly personal CD− falling between contemporary jazz and art song, it documents my evolution from classical musician, to poet, to jazz vocalist and composer.

“Whose Shadow?” features my original compositions, along with more traditional jazz fare, jazz arrangements of classical music, Peter Gabriel, Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and more!

A couple of other announcements: I am delighted to be performing January 19 at the Lula Lounge, as part of a special evening produced by Lula called “Jazz by 3”, featuring myself and vocalists Luanda Jones and Fern Lindzon, along with band mates George Koller, Ted Quinlan, Gord Sheard and Mark Kelso.

Last of all, I am honoured to be conducting a master class for the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association on Sunday February 2, 2014, called “The Art of Jazz Singing.”

The workshop is geared for classically trained vocalists, but open to everyone with diverse vocal and musical experiences!
